The History of Snooker presented by Steve Davis , narrated by
Clive Everton.
Using rare footage , the History of Snooker , traces the evolution
of the game from from a pastime for British soldiers in India through
to the first professional legend , Joe Davis , who along with his
brother Fred dominated the game in the first part of the 20th
century.
It was television which catapulted snooker into British sporting
life with such early tv stars as John Spencer and Ray Reardon up to
the thrilling and unpredictable Alex Higgins , the People`s
Champion Jimmy White and the pretender to that crown Ronnie
O`Sullivan and the greatest player ever to pick up a cue , Stephen
Hendry.
Much of this DVD revolves around the theatre of dreams , the Crucible
in Sheffield. Since 1977 it has been home to the World Championships
and some of the greatest moments the sport has seen. Who can forget
the maximums of Cliff Thorburn , Jimmy White and Ronnie O`Sullivan
to the unbreakable safety of Steve Davis and Stephen Hendry to the
miraculous potting of Mark Williams and Alex Higgins. Relive Joe
Johnson`s surprise victory , Stephen Hendry`s record 7th title , Jimmy
White`s heart breaking near misses and of course , Dennis Taylor`s
